South West Tool Hire was pleased to support Friends of Redcatch Park by supplying generators for the group’s recent fundraising event in Knowle.

The event brought the local community together for a busy day in the park, with South West Tool Hire’s Bristol branch providing the generator support needed to help keep things running smoothly. It was a simple but important way to back an organisation that continues to do a huge amount for one of South Bristol’s best-loved green spaces.

Who are Friends of Redcatch Park?

Friends of Redcatch Park is a volunteer community group dedicated to caring for Redcatch Park for current and future generations.

Local residents volunteer their time and expertise to help the park grow and improve, working with Bristol Parks, other local groups and volunteers to organise projects and events, improve recreation and play facilities, and protect wildlife.

The group has been active for more than two decades. Friends of Redcatch Park was set up in 2002 by Councillor Chris Davies and local residents to tackle anti-social behaviour in the park and help turn it into a place the community felt happy to visit. Since then, the group has helped deliver a wide range of improvements, from play equipment and walking tracks to benches, tree planting, court refurbishment and award-winning park initiatives.

That long-term effort is a big part of why the group has become such an important part of the local community.

Why South West Tool Hire wanted to help

For South West Tool Hire, supporting a group like Friends of Redcatch Park was an easy decision.

Richard Hughes, Operations Manager at South West Tool Hire, said:

“Community matters a great deal to South West Tool Hire, so we were delighted to support Friends of Redcatch Park with their fundraising event. They have put so much time and energy into improving the park over the years, and it was great to be able to help with the generators and support such a well-loved local event.”

Generators can make a big difference at community events, helping organisers power key areas safely and reliably. By supplying that equipment at a discounted rate, South West Tool Hire was able to support the day in a practical way and help the event team focus on everything else that needed to come together.

Lovely words from the organisers

The feedback from Friends of Redcatch Park showed just how much the support was appreciated.

Lesley Powell said:

“I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you for being such a lovely company to deal with in the provision of the generators for our event on Saturday. Your banners took pride of place alongside the main stage which was a very popular place to be. The event was super busy and Knowle had such a great day. All your guys are so helpful and comms is brilliant so is service.

Well done South West Tool Hire for showing many others how it should be done.

Thank you again from us all at Friends of Redcatch Park.”

Sian Ellis-Thomas (left in photo) added:

“You guys did us so proud. I hope you’re happy with the visibility of your sponsorship as the main sponsors of the music stage which is of course where the crowds mostly congregated. You’ll also get a shout out in our impact report. Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting our free community event. See you next year, I hope!”

Backing organisations that bring people together

Friends of Redcatch Park relies on wider support from local businesses and the community to help continue its work in the park and keep events and activities going.

For South West Tool Hire, supporting the event was about more than supplying generators. It was about backing a local organisation that has spent years improving a valued community space and creating events that bring people together.

South West Tool Hire is proud to have played a part in the event and looks forward to supporting more positive community projects like this in the future.
